WIPO to Host Research4Life Global Partners’ Meeting Celebrating 25 Years of Advancing Access to Global Knowledge

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) will host the 2026 Global Partners’ Meeting (GPM) of Research4Life at its headquarters in Geneva this July, marking  the initiative’s 25th anniversary.

For a quarter century, Research4Life has helped expand access to scientific knowledge and strengthen research capacity worldwide. Today, the partnership supports more than 12,000 institutions across 125 low- and middle-income countries, providing access to over 250,000 journals, books, and resources that fuel innovation, research and education.

WIPO coordinates the Access to Research for Development and Innovation (ARDI) program, a key partner of Research4Life, alongside four other programs: AGORA, GOALI, Hinari, and OARE. WIPO works in close collaboration with fellow UN partners, including the International Labour Organization (ILO), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and World Health Organization (WHO) along with publishers of scientific and technical content resources.

This year’s GPM is an opportunity to celebrate 25 years of progress in making research more accessible and inclusive, while reaffirming a shared commitment to the future.

From its beginnings to today, Research4Life continues to connect researchers, librarians and institutions with the knowledge they need to address pressing challenges and contribute to sustainable development.

WIPO is proud to be part of this partnership and to support its mission of building a more inclusive and connected global research community.
