IP Licensing for Academic Institutions in Algeria workshop

Submitted by Efua Halm on

On September 20-21, 2022, the two-day online course on IP Licensing for Academic Institutions in Algeria was held. The workshop was organized by the Technology Transfer Section and WIPO External Office in Algeria (WAO) in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Algeria and the Algerian National Institute of Industrial Property (INAPI).

The aim of the workshop was to provide a very practical explanation of the context in which licensing occurs, key terms of the licensing agreement and negotiation techniques. During the two days experts from the Licensing Executives Society International (LESI) and the innovation management consultancy, Winnotek, provided case studies as an illustration of how licensing is applied in real technology transfer situations.

This training benefited, on the one hand, researchers and technology managers from academic institutions, in particular those who have filed patents in which industrial companies have shown an interest and, on the other, the TISC Network in Algeria to upgrade their capacity to provide IP commercialization services to their stakeholders. 86 professionals took part.
